| Pretty, but cold. Oh yeah, and so's the weather. I've been there several times, although in most cases I was just using Vienna as a transit point. While the countryside is beautiful, I can't say that it's a country that I warm to. It has a disturbingly provincial (as in "redneck") feel to it, even in Vienna which has its architectural highlights. Conservative, catholic and landlocked. The south is different culturally and architecturally different, being the seat of the former Tyrolean Empire. Unfortunately it was the only place on my big backpacking trip in '88 where I experienced any crime -- the theft of my camera. Thus have no pictures of the former Yugoslavia or Vienna.
I have more pictures on ShoeBox.
You can see the entry for this country on the World Heritage Website.
