| For most of us, Bangkok serves as an introduction to Thailand. This, like many things in life, is a double edged sword. The country is much more than this one city, though the hightened activity and mercantile zeal is apparent in many places throughout the country. From the islands in the south to the hills of the north, the Thailand is safe and traveler friendly. A reverence to a monarchy seldom seen elsewhere underpins a proud national identity and a buddhist tolerance for difference.
