Brugge (or Bruges) is sometimes called the "Venice of the North" (along with St. Petersburg and Amsteram who also vie for the title).

Canals spanned by humpbacked bridges crisscross the city. Not built on nearly the same scale as Venice, the city has a beutifully quiet charm which is well worth a few days of your time to explore.

Don't miss one of the few Michelangelo statues outside of Italy, the Bruges Madonna and Child (or Pieta).%0D
