| A "beachside" town with "beaches" onto the North Sea. Let me tell you, for a boy that grew up in the Caribbean, these were not what I would called beaches. The sand was gravel, and the howling wind required you to put up windbreakers. The water was 12C (about 60F). I was not about to go in. One thing that I do remember was the East German warship patrolling offshore (it was close to the border at the time, 1988) and they were trying to prevent people from escaping East Germany by swimming.%0D
