| For a city so steeped in history and mystery, actually going there is quite a disappointment. There is very little to see of its storied past, and it consists mainly of unattractive high-rise apartments lined behind the 4-lane highway long the waterfront. The new Library of Alexandria is impressive architecturally and there are a few places (such as a Roman amphitheater) that are worth seeing.%0D
