| Total Eclipse Viewing The only reason to go to Sallum, which is a small fishing village on the border with Libya was to see the Total Solar Eclipse of March 29, 2006. The Egyptian government had very kindly set up a camp on the top of the escarpment -- the start of the Libyan plateau -- and around noon we were treated to a cloudless day and a spectacular eclipse.%0D
