Okovango Delta Botswana, 2001

The Okovango Delta is one of nature's most interesting creations: the inland delta. Think about it for a while... do you know any rivers that empty into anything other than another body of water: an ocean or a lake?

Well, the Okovango River ends its life in the burning sands of the Kalahari Desert of southern Africa. The vast amounts of water soak into, or evaporate from the soils of the desert.

I only spent a couple of nights there, but it was very beautiful with elephants, hippos, giraffes and many other types of wild animals knocking at your door.
