Angkor Cambodia, 2005
The Temples Of Ankgor certainly deserve the mythic reputation that they have. Whilethoughts of temples rising out of the steamy southeast Asian jungle are mostly a thing of the past due to the restoration of the monuments, what has been ressurected is truly impressive.
Massive stone structures covered in the most intricate carvings are here in abundance. You will be overwhelmed by even the most casual examination of what it took to build such ancient artefacts, echos of a time when elephants were abundant and human life was cheap... even cheaper than it is now.
One place that deserves special mention is Ta Prohm, part of the Angkor complex. Soon to be restored, it is currently still covered in oraganic masses of trees, insinuating themselves through the masses of the temples.
